Welcome to the 4* Limes Bed and Breakfast. We are situated in the lovely village of Colby, set in the heart of the Eden Valley, just 15 minutes from Penrith, the northern gateway to the Lake District. The Pennines are to the East, the Lake District to the West, Howgill Fells and Yorkshire Dales to the South and the historic Hadrians Wall is to the North. Colby is a quaint village, two miles north of Appleby which can be reached by foot across rolling fields, or for the more brave, across the stepping stones of the Eden and along the river into town. Appleby is a lovely historic market town with the Eden running through it. Spend a day on the golf course, or take a trip on the Carlisle to Settle Railway which stops at the town. For keen fishers, the Eden is one of the best rivers for coarse and fly fishing in the country. For walkers, only 15 minutes away are Murton and Dufton pike. If you're a bit more adventurous, Cross Fell is a 20 minutes drive away. Haweswater in the Lakes is where the only golden eagle in England has his kingdom, either drive straight to the lake or walk via the fells over Shap. There is something to do for everyone in the area and we are the perfect base from which to explore!

Wake up to a hearty full English breakfast cooked by Penny, using local produce or a lighter Continental breakfast with home made bread and fresh coffee. Tea, coffee, cappuccino, homemade scones and cakes can be ordered and enjoyed in one of the many sitting areas in the garden or garden room. Appleby is home to plenty of country inns and restaurants offering superb food and drink. The Limes has three double bedrooms; One king size room with ensuite; one king size/twin room with ensuite, which is located on the ground floor; and one double room with private bathroom. All three rooms are centrally heated and have tea and coffee making facilities, colour TVs with Freeview and a hairdryer. One room also has a DVD player. Sandwiches and packed lunches are available on request. Our Bed and Breakfast has ample parking outside and is non smoking for the comfort of our guests. We have lock up facilities available for cycles. Unfortunately we don't have the facilities to cater for children or pets.
