Idyllically situated within a 60 acre lakeside estate, The Stables Cottage near Coniston village and Hawkshead boasts beautiful views towards Coniston Old Man and Coniston Water. Perfectly placed for boat trips including themed Swallows and Amazons boat trips on Coniston Water, the cottage is a superb holiday base for walking and outdoor activities including cycling in nearby Grizedale Forest. We're within easy reach of John Ruskin's beautiful historic home Brantwood alongside Coniston Water and just a stone's throw from Beatrix Potter Country around Hawkshead.

Accommodating five guests comfortably, the cottage is a beautifully converted former stables with spacious living space spread across three floors. The three bedrooms are a master second floor double bedroom with an en-suite fully fitted bathroom, romantic four poster bed and a large walk in wardrobe. The two further bedrooms nestling on the ground floor are a pretty single and a double which can be a twin on request. These two bedrooms share a ground floor luxury shower room. Living space is beautifully appointed and open plan inclusive of a fully fitted kitchen, dining and living room.

The Stables Cottage is situated within our breathtaking Grade Listed Bank Ground Farm estate and sits within a row of five luxury Lakeland cottages, all of which share a delightful outdoor picnic terrace area with panoramic views of Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man. We run a guest house within the listed farmhouse on the estate and a popular on-site tearoom serving delicious locally sourced homemade meals and an outstanding wine selection. An option is also available to dine in our restaurant within the guesthouse which serves delicious three course evening meals on Fridays and Saturdays for an additional charge.

Special to this property

Guests are most welcome to bring along their own boats for sailing on Coniston Water. We have mooring facilities for boats up to a maximum size of 26ft.
