The house was built in 1817 as a private house and now, nearly two hundred years later, the White Rose offers lovely en-suite bed and breakfast accommodation at excellent prices - and, of course, the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District. We are well located (only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Windermere village and the station) for all that this wonderful part of the UK has to offer and our comfortable bedrooms, excellent hospitality and beautiful scenery will make your trip to the Lake District truly memorable. The guest house is a few minutes drive from Lake Windermere and just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Windermere village where you will find a good selection of pubs, cosy cafes, the station and some really good restaurants - for which the area is renowned.

The White Rose offers 6 lovely en-suite bedrooms - 5 double rooms and a bedroom that can be used as either a twin bedroom or a double bedroom - and the house is in the perfect location for exploring the whole of the English Lake District. Breakfast is a big part of your experience in the Lakes - and we serve our delicious traditional English breakfast in our sunny breakfast room where you can start the day with a hearty full English or choose one of our lighter options. Information leaflets, tourist maps and guides to help you plan the day ahead are all available for you to browse through. We have six well appointed bedrooms, (Please note that Bedroom 6 is separate from the other bedrooms in the house and is reached via a separate entrance at the rear of the property) and all our bedrooms have en-suite facilities, a colour TV with DVD player, a hospitality tray and hairdryer. The two bedrooms on the second floor of the house can be used together to create a family suite to sleep 4 guests in two bedrooms - a double room and a bedroom with a zip and link bed which can be used for twin or double occupancy. The two second floor rooms (Bedroom 4 and Bedroom 5) have great views over to the distant fells and mountains. Our prices are based on the time of year you wish to stay, the length of stay, whether you wish to stay during the week or over the weekend and the type of room required. We offer special 3 and 4 night breaks throughout the year.

Rooms Description

All our bedrooms can be viewed on our website. They are smartly decorated with co-ordinated curtains and soft furnishings. Bedrooms 1,2,3,4 and 5 have Sharps fitted furniture, digital TV with DVD players, tea and coffee facilities, a hairdryer and clock radio. Toiletries and towels are supplied and changed daily. Bedroom 6 has all the same facilities - but has free standing furniture. Bedrooms 1 and 2 are standard en-suite double bedrooms on the first floor and Bedroom 5 is a standard en-suite double bedroom on the second floor of the house. Bedroom 6 is a ground floor standard en-suite bedroom which is accessed from a separate entrance at the back of the house and this bedroom has the same facilities as all the other bedrooms. Bedroom 3 is a superior double bedroom on the first floor and Bedroom 4 is a second floor bedroom which can be a double or a twin bedroom as it has two normal sized single beds that can be zipped together to make a large double bed. Bedroom 4 can also be used with Bedroom 5 to form a family or friends suite. (Please note we can only accept children over the age of 11). Bedrooms 4 and 5 are both on the second floor of the house and so they have great views towards the fells and mountains to the north. Bedroom 6 is on the ground floor at the rear of the house and separate from the other guest bedrooms. This bedroom is accessed by walking through an outside passageway. Please note that guests using this bedroom will have to walk around to the front of the White Rose to gain entry for their breakfast. All the attractive bedrooms at the White Rose have en-suite facilities of a shower with toilet and handbasin. Each room has a digital TV with DVD, a hospitality tray, a hairdryer and clock radio. Bedrooms 1,2,3,4 and 5 have fitted bedroom furniture and Bedroom 6 has free standing furniture.

Specialities

Kevin and Caroline have upgraded the house over the past ten years and offer excellent hospitality, comfortable bedrooms and brilliant breakfasts (according to the kind comments left by guests!) The great location of the White Rose means that you can tour the whole of the beautiful Lake District easily. The main bus and railway station are only a five minute walk from the house and there is a bus stop for local buses at the end of Broad Street. We are only a five minute drive from Bowness - which is where the pleasure boats leave from - to sail to Ambleside or Lakeside. Walks can be taken straight from the house and we have several excellent walking and biking maps available for our guests to borrow whilst here.
