The White Rose was built as a private home in 1817, and now offers excellent en-suite accommodation - with free WIFI throughout the house. The Lake District is the largest National Park in the UK and with its towering mountains and the lakes nestling between them, a perfect area to visit - at any time of year! In the surrounding areas, why not explore the pretty Lakeland villages and towns that have captivated visitors for hundreds of years. Enjoy a stroll through bustling Bowness - only a 5 minute drive from the house, where you can take one of the fascinating lake cruises which ply between Ambleside and Lakeside. Spend some time in Grasmere - the home of William Wordsworth - and Grasmere gingerbread!
The White Rose has six smartly furnished en-suite guest rooms. There are three en-suite double bedrooms on the first floor of the house, two of the bedrooms overlook a small courtyard and there is a larger double bedroom at the front of the house. On the second floor of the house, there are two more rooms: Bedroom 4 - which can be either a twin bedroom or a superking double.(Please specify your preference when booking) and Bedroom 5 which is an en-suite double bedroom. We also have one ground floor en-suite double bedroom: Bedroom 6 is accessed via a private entrance at the back of the house and has the same facilities as the other bedrooms. All our attractively styled en-suite rooms have digital TV and DVD player, a well stocked hospitality tray, a hairdryer, clock radio and toiletries. We have Sharps fitted bedroom furniture in all bedrooms except Bedroom 6.
After a restful night's sleep, why not indulge yourself with a leisurely English breakfast -in our charming dining room. Lighter breakfast options are also available. Generally, weekends are a 2 night minimum stay and Bank Holiday weekends are a 3 night minimum stay.
A choice of beautiful Lakeland walks are straight from our door including the legendary Fell Walker Wainwright's first short walk up to Orrest Head which offers spectacular views towards Lake Windermere and the Central Fells. Bus and rail links are just 5 minutes from our door, making car free travel around the National Park an easy option. A wealth of outdoor activities are available nearby including premier golf at Windermere golf club and other activities including horse riding, swimming, tennis, cycling and off roading. Boat trips on Lake Windermere, just 1 mile from the guest house, stop at Ambleside, Brockhole and Lakeside to the south. The popular World of Beatrix Potter Attraction together with a stunning marina and great specialist shopping can all be found in nearby Bowness.
