Boltongate Old Rectory Guest House - Wigton

Charming award-winning B&B guest house in Ireby in Cumbria offering bed and breakfast accommodation in a romantic setting, wireless internet access available.

The Old Rectory at Boltongate is also a winner of the Northwest Tourism awards 2007. The B&B is set amid peaceful countryside with the fells and mountains beyond. The house is set in three and a half acres of mature grounds with ample car parking, a duck pond and a lily pond. The house dates from around 1360 with later additions made in the seventeenth century and Victorian times. Situated in the quieter Northern Lakes this is the perfect centre from which to explore Buttermere and Derwentwater, and the majestic peaks of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Northern Fells of the Lake District .

In summer the sun streams through the large windows and guests can enjoy birdsong and beautiful views over Skiddaw; during the cooler months, log fires burn in the study where guests can play board games or read some of the many books available. In the evening, dinner is served by candlelight in the 16th Century dining room. Our menus are interesting and varied and are designed around guests' preferences and dietary needs. Bassenthwaite and Uldale are typical Lakeland villages and just a couple of miles from Boltongate. Both have excellent village pubs serving real ale and good food.
