The Hayloft Cottage in the Lake District is a lovely, traditional property with views over the picturesque landscapes surrounding the area. Family friendly.

Welcome to The Hayloft, providing exceptionally clean, quality self-catering holiday accommodation in the rural hamlet of Redmain, 2 miles from Cockermouth, Cumbria. The Hayloft has a split barn door with stairway leading to a large open plan living room with kitchen on one side. There is a bedroom with a double bed and a separate bathroom provides a bath with a power shower and a toilet. French doors look out directly to the gardens.

The Hayloft is within a fantastic distance of many brilliant attractions such as Skiddaw Mountain near Bassenthwaite Lake, the birthplace of William Wordsworth and the Cumberland Pencil Museum. For those with children, why not visit the Muncaster Castle, Gardens and Owl Centre for a fabulous day out? Or perhaps the Cumberland Toy and Model Museum will take your fancy?

Rooms Description

All floors are polished pine with rugs and much of the original stone walls have been retained. The upstairs ceilings are lofted with exposed beams. The kitchens are fully equipped with microwave, refrigerator, electric cooker, ceramic hob and washer/dryer. There are colour televisions, freeview, dvd player and radios provided in each lounge. There is a bedroom with a king size bed and room for a cot, if required. A separate bathroom provides a bath with a power shower over and a toilet. All linen (but not facecloths), oil fired central heating and electricity are all included in the cost. Windows look out onto the gravel courtyard by a small orchard with gently rising ground behind, recently planted with a small deciduous wood under planted with bluebells.

Windows look out onto the gravel courtyard with gently rising ground behind, planted with a small deciduous wood under planted with bulbs. Some games and books are provided for all guests to enjoy. Free, secure storage is available for those with bikes, but you will need to notify us how many. There is also a wildlife pond and a formal herb garden and three outdoor barbecues. On your arrival there will be enough tea, coffee, sugar and basics like soap and washing up liquid to get you started. Both cottages have Wifi wireless access point broadband and internet access cable (Cat 5 Network) for connection to your own computer equipment. Broadband is charged at an extra £15 per week or short break stay. Please note that use of this Wifi Broadband is based on the guest’s basic use for email and browsing the Internet. Usage on our monthly bandwidth is limited and it is, therefore, not possible to make heavy downloads such as video and music without incurring extra charges. We use software to track online use, and hold the right to charge extra for any heavy downloads. We thank you for your co-operation.

DIRECTIONS TO HUDDLESTONE COTTAGE AND THE HAYLOFT ARRIVING FROM THE SOUTH From Junction 40 on the M6 Motorway take the A66 to Keswick/Workington. After travelling for some 35/40 minutes you will come to a big roundabout on the outskirts of Cockermouth. You will see the Sheep & Wool Centre off the left of the roundabout and a Garage on the opposite side. Go straight across this roundabout and drive down the hill to another large roundabout and take second exit, the A595 to Carlisle. This road will take you across the River and up hill to another roundabout, go straight across (A595 to Carlisle). About two miles along this road you will see a sign on the left, which says Redmain, Blindcrake and Isel turn right. Drive down the hill and look for the second house on the left, which has the gravel driveway, and you will see the sign for Huddlestone Cottage and The Hayloft. You have arrived! ARRIVING FROM THE NORTH Take the A69 or A74 to Carlisle. Then take the A595 to Cockermouth and Workington. Travel 20 miles approximately and you will pass Bothel on the right hand side, then the Moota Hotel on the left hand side about a mile further on. About two miles along this road you will see a sign on the right, which says Redmain, Blindcrake and Isel turn left. Drive down the hill and look for the second house on the left, which has the gravel driveway, and you will see the sign for Huddlestone Cottage and The Hayloft. You have arrived!
