White Moss House B&B is situated at the northern end of Rydal Water, between Grasmere and Windermere in the heart of the Lake District. The house was once owned by William Wordsworth, who bought the property for his son. The house is now owned by Sue and Peter Dixon, who have won many accolades for their outstanding hospitality since they bought the place in 1981. The property is ideally placed for access to some of the Lake District's most beautiful fells including Fairfield, Loughrigg and Silver Howe. Follow in the footsteps of the famous former owner and take a gentle stroll to the nearby villages of Rydal, Grasmere, Ambleside and Elterwater.

William Wordsworth bought White Moss House for his son. Wordsworth's homes at Dove Cottage in Grasmere and Rydal Mount in Rydal Village are less than a mile away. A short car journey will take you to Beatrix Potter's home at Hawkshead or John Ruskin's Brantwood on Coniston. The Lake District and White Moss House provides a breathtaking backdrop for your short break or holiday at any time of year. Leave your car on our car park and walk from the door. We can make a packed lunch for you if you wish. We are also on a bus route, with buses every 20 minutes during the day in Summer. We have a large free car park. We are licensed, so you can relax with a chilled wine or beer after a busy day. Whenever you choose to visit, you can be sure of a warm welcome and comfortable stay at White Moss House.

Breakfast is made using the finest of locally sourced produce and is accompanied by home made marmalades.

Peter's gourmet dinners have earned him AA rosettes and top marks in the Good Food Guide for many years. Dinner is available on special weekend packages throughout the year, or to private houseparties by arrangement.There is a fine selection of wines available by the glass or bottle, as well as a selection of local beers and other drinks from the well stocked bar.
