Few properties here in the beautiful Lake District are so linked with its beauty, culture and history as White Moss House B&B by the edge of Rydal Water. Our guest house stands between Windermere and Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District, and was once owned by poet William Wordsworth whose best-known poem 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud', also known as 'Daffodils', describes the beauty of the region. Wordsworth bought White Moss house for his son in 1827, and it was the home of his family for over a century. Now, we provide a warm welcome to guests looking to enjoy the inspirational beauty of the area, a short drive from Ambleside, just a mile from Grasmere Village and close to the Lake District's most beautiful fells including Fairfield, Loughrigg and Silver Howe.

White Moss House is a licensed B&B complete with a beautiful floral terrace on which to enjoy drinks from our well-stocked bar. The Wordsworth Lounge houses a cosy wood-burning fire, sofas, magazines, games and books as well as a baby grand piano, and we have five guest bedrooms all with en-suite facilities and top-of-the-range luxury beds, as well as TVs and DVD players, hospitality trays and organic complimentary toiletries. Award-winning breakfasts are served in our dining room and include organic muesli, Aga-cooked porridge, fresh juices, locally-sourced full English breakfasts and kippers, as well as hot drinks and fresh juices, toast and preserves, and we have a pretty woodland garden with benches overlooking the lake.

We have rooms available for most nights in May apart from the Bank Holiday weekend. For last minute bookings ( in the next 3 days) please email us. We might be able to give you very special rates for last minute bookings. Please email sue@whitemoss.com. if you wish to come in the next 3 days. If we have a gap in our diary we can take a 1 night booking. Please contact us with any 1 night request.
