Immaculately presented Lavender House is a character Victorian bed and breakfast dating from 1850. South facing and retaining numerous original features including red pine staircase and high ceilings, rooms are light and airy and the property is furnished with a mix of antiques and traditional furniture. The B&B is conveniently situated just 6 miles off Junction 36 of the M6 in the picturesque market town of Kirkby Lonsdale which boasts a choice of specialist shops, country pubs and restaurants and is famous for its Ruskin's View, historic churches and Devils Bridge. . The location is perfectly placed for exploring both the Lake District and nearby Yorkshire Dales. Morecambe Bay, Kendal, the Howgill Fells and Sedbergh are all within easy reach.
We welcome guests on arrival with homemade cakes in the sitting room and we are happy to meet guests at nearby Oxenhome main line station. Delicious Aga cooked breafasts are served in our bright and spacious dining room with locally sourced and organic food used where possible. The breakfast menu is extensive and guests can help themselves to cereals, fresh fruit and yohurt, with Cafetiere coffee, a variety of teas, freshly baked organic bread, Cumbrian breakfast and Manx kippers all available. Our Cumbrian breakfasts include locally cured bacon, award winning sausages and tray baked black pudding from the local butcher. Packed lunches are available on request. A south facing sunny sitting room is available to guests, with a lovely open fire in winter. Lavender House is non smoking throughout with ample parking available on the drive. Sorry we do not welcome pets.
