About this property

Welcome to Number 43, South of the Lake District. Awarded Cumbria Bed and Breakfast of the Year 2010 and England's Northwest Tourism Awards 2010The position here is fabulous: a vast sky, a pretty village, the Kent estuary spilling into Morcambe Bay. Huge views shoot off to the Lake District, where distant peaks take to the skies.

You're at the end of the road, more likely to be disturbed by commuting birds than a car, so sit on the terrace and watch the train puff across the viaduct or follow a flock of geese as they sweep through the valley. As for Number 43, interiors shine after a total renovation. You get glossy books and great views in the sitting room, an honesty bar in the dining room, and delicious breakfasts set you up for the day: freshly squeezed orange juice, baskets of patisserie, porridge with honey and sugar, the full Cumbrian works. So much more than a Bed and Breakfast, graded by Visit Britain as 5Gold and The AA as 5 Highly commended.. Stylish yet practical, contemporary yet comfortable, classic not trendy featuring accommodation of exceptional design style and luxury. Step outside our front door onto the promenade and immediately you are amongst some of the most breathtaking natural surroundings in the country. Located, on the southern tip of the Lake District we are ideally situated for a day trip into Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere and the surrounding Lake District National Park. Only a twenty minute drive from Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Ulverston and Cartmel with its 11th Century Priory and famous Sticky Toffee Pudding. Mark the end of a perfect day by unwinding back at Number 43 with a chilled glass of wine watching the sunset over the Kent Estuary onto the Lakeland fells. Luxurious accommodation synonymous with award winning local food and well chosen wines, served by professional and friendly staff who love their work and do it uncompromisingly well! Open all year round so any time spent at Number 43 will be remembered for time spent somewhere very special indeed. A commitment to quality with a personal touch. We would love you to stay with us at Number 43 and discover Arnside, Cumbria's hidden gem.

More about staying here

The stylish interiors are furnished with Lloyd Loom and contemporary oak furniture - with fabrics and wall coverings by Designers Guild. The bedrooms are as luxurious as they come with Egyptian cotton sheets, thick fluffy bathrobes, flat screen TVs and Bose sound systems. There's also sherry, fresh coffee, homemade biscuits and even Kendal Mint Cake. All rooms have free Wi-Fi and some have binoculars so that guests can observe the estuary's wildlife. The bath in Suite Two affords a fantastic view of the estuary and guests can enjoy a soak whilst watching the sun go down.

Special to this property

Breakfast, served on the terrace when sunny, includes such things as freshly baked muffins and homemade granola. Famous local farmer Peter Gott provides the Cumberland sausage and black pudding for the traditional Cumbrian breakfast. Supper is served three nights a week only but, ingeniously, BBQ packs of local artisan produce are available for barbecuing on the rear terrace.
