Welcome to The Cottage, a self-catering holiday cottage for rent on the edge of the Lake District National Park. We are set in a quaint Hamlet, Soutergate, within the Duddon Valley and near to Kirkby-in-Furness. This 17th century cottage is located near the Cumbrian Cycle Way and is only a short drive to Coniston, Windermere and within easy reach of Hawkshead and Ambleside. Our property is the ideal base for walking and many quiet lanes and pathways dot the local area, as well as the Scafells, Great Gable and the Old Man of Coniston if you fancy a bit of a challenge!

Through the stable door at the back of the cottage is a small garden area that gets the afternoon sun. There is also a patio area in front of the cottage, ideal for barbecues or just sit and relax with a glass of wine. There is plenty of room at the back of the cottage for two cars to park with additional space at the front of the house. Places to visit include Coniston, where you can sail and store your boat at the Boat Centre for £10 per night. Catch the ferry form Lakeside to Bowness and Ambleside, or visit the South Lakes Animal Park, Ravenglass Steam Railway and lakeside Sea Life Centre.

Rooms Description

There are two double bedrooms & a third with bunk-beds. A cot is available on request. The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably and a guest bed is available to sleep an extra person. It has a well equipped kitchen and spotless bathroom and the cottage has full central heating and a wood burning stove in the lounge. The dining area seats 6/7 people.
