Wheelwrights is a small company with some of the best cottages in the Lake District set amongst stunning scenery in the Langdale Valleys, Grasmere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston. We let 76 properties ranging from farmhouses, converted barns, stone-built Lakeland cottages and old village houses to more modern apartments and large, family friendly houses. Whether you are looking for a romantic weekend getaway for two in the Lakes or a really good family holiday, do give us a call to discuss your options. Our range of holiday properties include both large and small cottages, sleeping from 2 to large groups of 15. Examples include Dale End Farm and Barn which, together sleep 15 guests. This delightful old Lakeland farm is graded ETC 4 stars and is situated in a splendid position on the lower slopes of Silver Howe, overlooking Grasmere Lake, Heron Pike and the surrounding fells. It is just one mile from Grasmere, and has been carefully restored, with many attractive features. To the front of the property, the garden is well-laid out with mature shrubs, a small stream and wonderful views over the lake. This is a property which lends itself to family get-togethers. Dale End Barn which sleeps 4, can be taken separately or along with the farmhouse, and the two properties can be interconnected on request. Converted in 2004, the exterior remains that of an old stone barn while no expense has been spared in fitting out the interior to an extremely high standard.

The majority of our cottages accept well behaved dogs and at off peak times you should check our website - www.wheelwrights.com - for any special offers and discounts which may be in operation during quiet periods. Our minimum break is for 3 nights (off peak times only) and this may be taken over a weekend or during the week, subject to availability. From Easter until November, we generally let for full weeks only but it is sometimes worth asking, if it is a last minute booking, whether there is any availability. We will be happy to talk to you!
