Romantic 3 Star Ambleside Hotel, Award Winning Restaurant, Oak Beams/log Fires, Bargain Breaks, Bars

The Skelwith Bridge Hotel is a luxuriously appointed 3 star, seventeenth-century Lakeland Inn ideally placed near Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Guests benefit from easy access to Ambleside's superb specialist shopping centre, Wordsworth's home and superb local fell walking. Modern-day comfort blends with our long-standing traditions of generous hospitality at the hotel. Guests can expect numerous facilities including a fine food restaurant overlooking the River, a warm and a welcoming in-house pub/bar. Dogs are welcome in our hotel and open log fires are in the lounges and bars. Full of real Lakeland character and charm, oak-beamed ceilings and period features characterise the major part of the hotel, including The Lodge, a traditional Lakeland building directly across the front courtyard.

Bars and lounges have open log fires ensuring a warm welcome in the winter months. The Bridge Restaurant, overlooking the river Brathay, enjoys an excellent reputation in the region. The restaurant offers a nightly five-course treat of the best of traditional English cuisine combined with modern influences. We are able to cater for most dietary requirements and offer an extensive wine selection. The Talbot Inn is a modern re-creation of a 17th Century pub and serves a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits, plus a daily variety of tasty bar meals.
