The delightful ETC 4 Star silver awarded Norwood House guesthouse is perfectly situated in the heart of Ambleside, one of the most picturesque villages in the Lake District. Guests have easy access to Ambleside's many attractions including the famous landmark Bridge House , and numerous specialist shops, tea rooms and country inns. Norwood House is a cosy, family run guest house, ideal for walkers and surrounded by dramatic scenery. We're only a short walk from the northern edge of Lake Windermere and just on the doorstep of dramatic fells and mountains such as Helvellyn, and Scafell Pike, England's highest peak.
Guests will love our hearty breakfasts. Set yourself up for a day's walking or sight-seeing with a full English Lakeland breakfast with scrumptious top quality bacon and sizzling Cumberland sausages personally made and delivered by Fred, our friendly local butcher! With fresh Lakeland Farm eggs, plump mushrooms, grilled juicy tomatoes and all the trimmings too. Alternatively, go for the vegetarian breakfast option with scrambled eggs on whole-wheat toast, beans, mushrooms, tomato and a veggie sausage. Facilities and amenities in the guesthouse are numerous and include a public telephone, packed lunches for group bookings, drying facilities for wet rainwear, Mountain Bike storage and cleaning area and we'll even fill flasks for those chilly days out! Guests can expect heaps of hot water always on tap and fluffy soft towels. Choose from Family, Twin, Triple, Double & single rooms. All rooms have full central heating, colour TV and Radio Alarm Clocks, hairdryers, wine glasses and complimentary hot drinks with biscuits. Ironing facilities are also available. We welcome walkers. Being born and bred in Ambleside, Lindsey's local knowledge, coupled with Keith's experienced fell walking advice, will help you to make the most of this breath-takingly scenic part of the world! Being a prominent member of the local Mountain Rescue Team, Keith is able to offer advice on walks to suit all abilities and can also provide guests with maps and guide books, along with a packed lunch for group bookings, if ordered in advance.

Directions
Approaching Ambleside from the South, exit the M6 Motorway via Junction 36 (South Lakes turn-off) and follow the main A591 Road to Windermere through to Ambleside (l8 miles). When you pass the Ambleside YHA, turn left at the traffic lights immediately after and follow that road right into Ambleside town centre. When you see the spired church on your left, move into the right hand lane and turn right at the crossroads by the coffee shop on the corner. Continue up the road, turning left at the top of the car park opposite the library. Turn left at the next junction and Norwood House there on the right hand side. Approaching Ambleside from the North, exit the M6 Motorway via Junction 40 at Penrith. Follow signs for Keswick and on to Ambleside. On entering the town centre past the Bridge House on your right, continue through the town passing Barclays Bank on the corner on your left, the post office on your right, followed by the Royal Oak Pub. Turn right here (Church Street), continue to the bottom of the road where you will find The Norwood on the right hand side.
