For drivers, the sometimes near vertical Kirkstone Pass taking you from Ambleside towards Lake Ullswater is a must when touring this picture book countryside landscape. The head of Lake Windermere and Waterhead is just a short stroll away, which gives access to a variety of very popular water sports and leisure activities. Relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery as seen during a trip on one of Lake Windermere cruises. Ambleside's central location within the heart of the English Lake District makes it an enticingly explorable area, which is accessible to everyone wanting to enjoy the quiet, calm and beauty of the numerous lakes, fells and pretty villages in the area. Walkers and bikers welcome. We can also dry any wet gear for you. Plenty of parking is available at Rothay House in our guest car park.

Rooms Description

Our bedrooms are pleasantly furnished and each individually decorated to a high standard. We have 5 double rooms and 1 twin bedded room. Each bedroom has its own private facilities along with a colour television with DVD player and complimentary tea and coffee tray. At the end of the day you can of course relax in our cosy lounge, watch TV, read a book or play with one of the many board games we have.

Specialities

If you are off walking for the day, why not order a packed lunch to take with you. £4.50 to include a choice of fizzy drink, juice or bottled water or, for £5.50 we will fill your flask with tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
