



Ambleside Lodge was originally built circa 1875 as a Gentleman's residence, and was named 'Rothay Holme' after the River Rothay which flows from Grasmere into Lake Windermere. Ideally situated for walking, we're also just 2 minutes walk to the centre of Ambleside with it's many pubs, shops and art gallery & museum. We're also just 5 minutes walk to the Lake Windermere steamer departure jetty at Waterhead pier. Ambleside Lodge is set in a 2,5 acre site made of lawn and woodland. The property has been beautifully restored and tastefully decorated, and features some exceptional examples of original oak panelling dating back to 1654.
Nearby Ambleside offers over 30 pubs and restaurants within walking distance from the Lodge. No need to drive as our own car park can accommodate over 20 cars. A free pick up service from Windermere railway station is also offered when possible. Other facilities include an Internet access point from reception, laundry facilities, a bikes lock up and a wet clothes and shoes drying facilities in our boiler room. Pets are welcome but we are limited in the rooms available.
Ambleside Lodge has 18 bedrooms which are all en suite. All our rooms are different in sizes, decor and amenities. All rooms have colour televisions and DVD players with a selection of films available throughout your stay. We have 8 rooms on the ground floor and 10 rooms on the first floor, and a selection of standard rooms, twin rooms, and superior rooms which comprise a 4 poster bed and some with Jacuzzi bath, are offered. Special offer 3 night midweek breaks are available from Sunday to Thursday.
All our guests receive free use of the facilities of one of Lakeland's finest Leisure Club including a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, squash court, aerobics, weights room, and a Beauty salon. These facilities are a mere 5 minutes drive from the lodge and are available from 7.30 am till 10 pm. Some restrictions exist, please ask for details. A tennis court and mini-golf are also available next door and Lake District Golf courses are situated nearby.

Directions from the North, leave the M6 at Junction 40 and follow the A66 towards Keswick. Take the A591 south to Ambleside and follow the one way system around the village. Follow the signs for Coniston. Turn right at the BP petrol station and thenAs you turn left at the T junction the Ambleside Lodge is immediately on your right. Directions from the South, leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A591 towards Ambleside. At the traffic lights at Waterhead bear left anf follow the lake shore and onto the village centre. The Ambleside Lodge is situated on the left immediately before the start of the one way system.
