The bedrooms are serviced to a very high standard and are re-decorated each year. Traditional wall papers and fabrics are used that are in keeping with the age of the cottage. The bed linen is white and good quality mattresses ensure that you have a good night's sleep. Fern Cottage is the closest B & B in Ambleside to Lake Windermere. It is situated just one minute's walk from Ambleside Pier and the shores of Lake Windermere. Kayaks, rowing boats and motor boats can be hired in close proximity to the Pier and the very popular Lake Cruises depart regularly from the Pier throughout the day. In the evening you could dine at either 'The Wateredge Inn' 'The Waterhead Hotel' or the 'Regent Hotel' which are all within 3 minute's walk of the Cottage. Alternatively you could easily walk into the centre of Ambleside where there are lots of restaurants, pubs and hotels to choose from. During the daytime there are also three cafes close to Fern Cottage, all of which are extremely good! Fern Cottage has been graded as 'Four Star Guest Accommodation' by Visit Britain.
