The Smallwood House Hotel offers quality guest accommodation in the popular Lake District village of Ambleside. The house was built in 1880 from Westmorland slate quarried from local mines and has been updated internally to offer modern accommodation. Start the day with a delicious breakfast in our large dining room before heading out to explore the local sights. We have a selection of gluten free and vegetarian foods should you prefer.

We ae licensed and guests are welcome to relax with a drink in our comfortable lounge before heading out for the evening. Alternatively, you could choose to dine with us. We have a regularly updated table d'hote menu and are happy to cater for special dietary requirements with prior notice. Grasmere, Windermere, Keswick and the Langdale Valley are all nearby so we are in an ideal location for your short break in the Lake District or your holiday where you can explore the rest of the Lake District and Cumbria.
