Directions
Entering Ambleside by car from the south Head for the town centre. As you reach the one-way system, you will see putting greens and the church on your left. Get in the left lane and follow the road as it bends left then right. You are then in Compston Road and Thorneyfield is on your left, painted purple at present. Entering Ambleside by car from the north As you reach the one-way system, follow it until it becomes two lanes. Take the right hand lane, turn right (signed Coniston), turn right again at the T junction and you will see the putting greens and church on your left. Get in the left lane and follow the road as it bends left then right. You are then in Compston Road and Thorneyfield is on your left, painted purple at present.
