The Kings Arms Hotel offers both B&B and self-catering accommodation, located in a beautiful area of the Lake District in the Esthwaite Valley. This 500 year old inn is full of charm and character, with many period features such as oak beams and old open fires. No need to worry about parking as the hotel has parking permits for guests in the local pay and display car park. Our small, friendly bar is a real meeting place for visitors and locals alike. As well as fine local and guest real ales we also have a superb selection of malt whiskies and an interesting and varied menu which can be enjoyed either in the informal setting of the bar or beer garden, or in our non-smoking restaurant if preferred. Nine tastefully furnished bedrooms are available to guests, and we welcome children and pets. Why not sample the delights of our four self-catering accommodation options. Directions

Directions from the north, leave the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith) and follow the signs for A66 Keswick for half a mile. Turn left at Stainton roundabout, following signs for A592 Ullswater and Windermere. Travel along the side of Ullswater Lake and to the top of Kirkstone Pass. At the Kirkstone Pass Inn turn right, following signs for Ambleside. Upon reaching Ambleside turn left into the town and follow signs for A593 Coniston. At Clappersgate turn left onto the B5286 and follow the road for 5 miles to Hawkshead. On arriving at the village, follow the signs for the main village (Pay and Display) car park and drive on into the square where you will find us. If travelling from the south, leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow A591 to Windermere. From Windermere continue along the A591 towards Ambleside until you reach Waterhead, at the Northern end of Windermere Lake. Turn left at Waterhead traffic lights and follow the A593 to Coniston for about a mile. At Clappersgate turn left onto the B5286 and follow the road for 5 miles to Hawkshead. On arriving at the village, follow the signs for the main village car park and drive on into the square where you will find us.
