A huge to welcome to Lakeland Campers. We have a stunning classic 1969 Volkswagen Bay window camper van called Dolly which has been completely restored and is fully equipped to help you enjoy a holiday to remember. Lakeland Campers is run by Colin and Amy from our family farm on the edge of the beautiful Lake District. We are based just outside Kendal in Cumbria 5 minutes from the M6 junction 37. You will be spoilt for choice for where to go as we have the fabulous award winning Lake District National Park on our doorstep and are only 5 minutes from the Yorkshire Dales National Park and only 40 minutes from Scotland.

Starting your trip with Dolly couldn't be easier; you can leave your car with us safely tucked up in our garage or we can also arrange to collect you from Oxenholme the Lake District Train Station, or Manchester/Liverpool airports for an additional small charge. Our Van is a classic vehicle which puts the fun back into driving, leaving you smiling and rest assured that others will be smiling at you too, so don’t forget to wave!

Rooms Description

Dolly is a 1969 early bay, type 2 Volkswagen camper van. She has a reconditioned engine so she’ll pootle a bit quicker than when she left the factory. She has been very well restored and has added extras for 21st century camping. Dolly has seat belts for 5. She sleeps 4 inside her, for more sleeping and living space we would recommend our drive away awning. Dolly has a separate leisure battery and a hook up kit, so that you can bring standard electrical equipment i.e. hairdryers, laptops, phone chargers etc without fear of draining her battery. She has a ‘rock and roll’ double bed, a hammock in the roof and a small child’s bunk for across the front seats. She even has central heating for those cooler nights. This is sophisticated camping! Dolly is fully equipped to ensure you can enjoy your holiday to the full.

Specialities

The van has cupboard space and a fridge which keeps cool with cool packs. These last about 3 days and can be re-frozen at campsites in order to keep the fridge cool. There is no freezer. You will receive the camper with a full tank of Unleaded and it is the hirer’s responsibility that it is returned full up. The driver/hirer must be aged 25-70.
