The village of Hawkshead is a place of charm and character with its whitewashed buildings, narrow streets, alleyways and cobbled streets. Once an important market town for wool it is now a popular holiday destination. William Wordsworth lodged at 'Ann Tysons' whilst attending grammar school and more recently Beatrix Potter lived at 'Hill Top' Nr. Sawrey just outside the village. The village itself has a selection of quaint gift shops, restaurants and Camra recommended inns serving food and local fine ales. A local bus service connects the rest of the Lakes and an excellent network of footpaths and bridleways offers a multitude of opportunities.

Ann Tysons House is a family run B&B offering a choice of double or twin en-suite, double with private facilities, family rooms or cosy single en-suite rooms. For ease of access there are bedrooms available on the ground floor, ideal for those who find stairs a problem or wish to bring their dog. All rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished and equipped with colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Parking is free during your stay by way of a permit issued on arrival and covers the main pay & display car park. A self catering cottage is also available, please ask for details.

Anglers keen to cast a line whilst visiting the Lake District will be delighted by the diversity of the fishing available in and around the Hawkshead area. On the doorstep Esthwaite Water rates as one of the finest waters in the Lake District. Predominanantly a trout fishery, Esthwaite Water also boasts both excellent pike and coarse fishing. Ann Tysons House (B&B) are now offering full use of the 'hotel permits' issued to us by 'Esthwaite Water trout and winter pike fishery' and the 'Windermere and Ambleside District Angling Association'. The permits entitle bed and breakfast residents free shore/bank fishing amidst some of the most stunning and dramatic scenery in the Lake District National park.
