View from the Dining RoomPepper House is a historic 16th century Yeoman's Farmhouse, beautifully converted with thick stone walls and huge oak cruck beams. There are three guest bedrooms in the farmhouse, which is set on a south facing hillside, offering comfortable and spacious accommodation all year round. The property is ideally placed for Beatrix Potter country, situated just south of picturesque Hawkshead. Grizedale Forest Park is the Forestry Commission's flagship leisure and amenity forest in the heart of the Lakes. Eight thousand acres of mixed woodlands, criss-crossed by footpaths, bike trails, green lanes, sculpture trails and forest tracks, makes this area perfect for walking, biking and bird-watching. From many points there are superb views of Coniston. Guests are invited to become part of the family and make friends with our assorted animals. Continuing the farmhouse tradition, we serve home-cooked meals, including home baked bread and local produce.
We offer extras such as evening meals (if pre-booked), and we also have a drinks licence for residents. Pepper House offers a relaxed, convivial atmosphere. Enjoy our two comfortable lounges, one of which has a television. There is central heating throughout, a log burner in the TV lounge and open fire in the main lounge. Packed lunches are available on request, as well as afternoon tea with cakes. We're perfect for walkers, and offer drying facilities for wet clothes. We have our own off-road car park for guests, and storage for bikes. The guesthouse is totally non-smoking. Please note: we do NOT accept dogs, nor children under 8 years of age. For less able visitors we have facilities to ease access, including walk-in showers and grab rails, but no ground floor accommodation, and the house is NOT suitable for wheelchairs. Please ask us for our PRIVATE WEBSITE address so that you can see all the details and many more photographs.
