Lowbyer Manor was built in the late eighteenth century and is a grade II listed Georgian Manor House in the historic market town of Alston. Lowbyer now provides four star accommodation of exceptional value, unspoilt by the changes of time. The town has galleries in which visitors can view locally produced crafts and works of art and Alston also boasts the highest narrow gauge railway in Britain. The town lies in the heart of the North Pennines in the north east corner of Cumbria and is the perfect place for day tripping to the Lake District, the Scottish Borders, Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall Country, the North Durham Dales or the famous Yorkshire Dales.
The guest can select accommodation ranging from a single up to our superior king size (U.S./Canadian Queen) for your comfort. For example, the romantic Stuart room has exposed beam ceilings,a king size bed and a magnificent view across the South Tyne River valley. The Derwentwater room features a king size four poster bed and the room overlooks the front garden; which is home to a large Sequoia tree. The present owners, Laura and Richard Elston, hope that you will find your stay at Lowbyer Manor an enjoyable, peaceful, and refreshing experience.
