L'Enclume Restaurant with rooms is situated in an idyllic location adjacent to striking Cartmel Priory in the Southern Lake District. Some of our exquisite luxury en-suite rooms have superb views of the priory from their windows. L'Enclume is owned by the renowned chef Simon Rogan whose cuisine is famous for it's bold and imaginative character. The restaurant is stylishly presented in an 800 year old building, once a Blacksmiths. Original features are delightfully blended with contemporary design and luxury furnishings to great effect. L'Enclume is truly a unique Lake District venue, offering de-luxe en-suite accommodation and imaginative cuisine using local produce, with an emphasis on the subtle flavours of wild herbs, roots and flowers rather than heavy meat based stocks and sauces.
Food philosophy at L'Enclume restaurant sits well beside the Buddhist retreat at Cartmel Priory. Guests can expect adventurous and eccentric dishes, with wild flavours and quite a few rules broken! Ingredients from nature, such as herbs long fallen out of favour, are used in abundance to produce tastes and flavours to excite the guest. New for 2005 are residential and non-residential cookery courses, perfect for groups of friends. Two day courses include overnight accommodation in luxurious Bluebell House, plus a full hearty breakfast. Courses are designed for four couples or groups of 8 friends sharing. Minimum group size is 4, with a maximum of 8, so you're guaranteed lots of personal tuition attention.
