Bridge House is in the centre of the popular coastal village of Allonby on the edge of the Lake District. Famous for its sunsets across the Solway Firth and 5 miles of safe, sandy, Blue Flag beaches. This charming character property is over 250 years old, with original exposed beams, and sea views. Amongst the cobbled squares and by-ways are two pubs, both serving excellent food. The Ship Inn is where Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins stayed. There is also a restaurant and a cafe where all the food is home-made. Two antique and bric-a-brac shops where you can browse. A Post Office and Newsagent. Plus a shop where the owners make their own mouth-watering icecream. At the rear of the village is a Leisure Centre, with swimming pool, sauna, solarium, pool tables and a lounge bar serving food, and providing evening entertainment. The mountains and lakes of the Lake District are only a short drive away, so however you choose to spend your holiday, the Western Lake District has everything to suit all ages and tastes, with a wealth of things to do and see all year round.
