If you're looking for the perfect group holiday base in the Lake District then the purpose-built Duddon Estuary YHA hostel is ideal. The hostel sits on the banks of the Duddon Estuary with a stunning panorama of the Lake District fells. We're perfectly located for walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and botanists, as well as being positioned directly on the Cumbria Cycle Way and Cumbria Coastal Way. Hodbarrow RSPB Reserve is only a mile away and a short walk to a long sandy beach. This Youth Hostel is available primarily as a Rent-a-Hostel, but of course is available to be booked by individuals. For the comfort of our guests, we do not welcome pets but guide dogs for the visually impaired can be accommodated by arrangement.
Room layouts are one 2 bedded room, and two 8 bedded rooms. Guests should note that accommodation is self-catering only. Ample facilities on site include an open-plan lounge/dining room, kitchen, showers, laundry facilities and grounds with games and barbecue area. We welcome families with children, including under 3s. The Youth Hostel is open from 1 Nov 04 to 16 Apr 06, and is open every day. You can rent the whole hostel at any time of the year. Individuals are welcome to make short term bookings, but please contact the hostel less than 14 days ahead to check availability. Reception Opening times are from 08.00 to 10.00 hrs, 17.00 to 22.00 hrs, and the Hostel closes at 23.00 hrs. In total the hostel sleeps 18, perfect for large groups. Unfortunately there are no no dedicated family rooms available, but families can book one of our 8 bedded bunkrooms for their exclusive use. We have facilities for wheelchair users and we also have ample parking facilities. Credit cards are accepted for payments.
