Lakeside Country House is an elegant non-smoking Edwardian property offering the highest standard of accommodation, reflected in our recent RAC 5 Diamond Award for quality. Lakeside occupies an idyllic spot on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake with superb views of the Skiddaw mountain range and Bassenthwaite itself. We are a most popular Bird Watching location, with many birdwatching Lake District hotspots nearby. The guesthouse is only a five minute drive from specialist shopping haven Keswick and Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth. Relax and enjoy only the finest dining at Lakeside, accompanied by a superb choice of wines, in a non-smoking environment. An optional 4 Course Dinner is available, and everything is home baked by five star owner/chef Arnold with great skill and pride using only the finset locally sourced ingredients. We also offer a varied wine list and bar menu to suit all tastes and budgest. Reservations are necessary for dining, and small groups of up to 15 are welcome and can be accommodated in the restaurant with prior notice.

Our comfortable lounge has idyllic views out to the lake and makes the perfect spot to relax for a quiet read or to play chess, watch TV or simply browse through the local information folder. In the evening the Lounge is the ideal place for fellow Guests to meet for a pre dinner drink. No need to worry about parking, as ample Parking is available within the grounds.
