The pub is situated opposite the caravan siteThe Beeches Caravan Park is a small, quiet park in a peaceful village, just 5 miles north of William Wordsworth's birthplace Cockermouth in Cumbria. Guests can choose from luxury static caravans which are available for hire on a weekly basis or for short breaks. The caravan park is open all year round and are spaciously set out in attractive landscaped grounds with car parking by each caravan. A 5mph speed limit is in operation around the park for the safety of our guests. Superb food and drink are available at The Beeches Restaurant at the entrance of the Park and also at The Masons Arms nearby. Both offer take-aways. The Masons Arms, Gilcrux is a traditional Cumbrian pub where holidaymakers are welcomed as if part of the community. The food is excellent and plentiful, the menu is wide and varied and offers excellent value for money. This pub is withing easy access to the caravan site, being situated just opposite the caravan site. Take aways are available from the pub for your convenience. Alternatively guests can choose to dine at the virtually on-site Beeches Bar and Restaurant, Gilcrux. The restaurant has comfortable chairs and a log fire to enjoy with a drink whilst the delicious food is cooked to order. Families with children are welcomed and made to feel comfortable. Again take aways are available for your convenience. If you're looking for good fishing territory, the local village has a trout farm, or if you prefer horse riding try the local riding school. The caravan park is perfect for walkers and many walks are located nearby. The Caravan site is positioned in a superb location to enjoy fantastic views over the Solway Firth which is renowned for it's spectacular sunsets. The northern lakes including Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite Lake, Borrowdale and Keswick and also the quieter western lakes, Ennerdale, Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere are all easily accessible from the caravan park. The caravans are fully equipped, all with excellent facilities of the highest standard. Facilities include WC, shower, full kitchen, colour TV, continental quilts, and a gas fire. Some caravans have double glazing and central heating or panel heaters.
Other facilities on-site include a shop/post office, laundry room and a large kids play area. Guests do need to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, quilt covers and towels. All the caravans are 6-berth and have 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin, with a pull-out double bed in the lounge area. Gas in included in the price and electricity is obtained by £1 coin meter. We have two grades of caravan to choose from, silver and gold. Gold grade caravans are newer and have double glazing and either gas central heating or electric panel heaters. The gold grade caravans can also be used in the winter.
