We are happy to cater for most diets, although prior notification is appreciatedEasdale House is owned and run by Mark and Heather Askew, who look forward to welcoming you in a relaxed, friendly and informal manner. Easedale House is one of only a few establishments which was purpose built as a hotel, when originally constructed in Victorian times [circa 1866] as the 'Blencathra Temperance Hotel'. In the 1950's the then proprietors, Arthur and May Ibbotson, changed the name to "The Easedale Hotel" after the small lake 'Easedale Tarn' above Grasmere, where May lived as a child. The name has been changed to Easedale Hse to better reflect its current use.
Keswick has become the major centre for tourism in the Northern Lakes. Keswick is a pretty market town and offers a wide range of attractions for visitors, from shops and restaurants, guest houses to museums. Keswick also offers everything that a person who loves the great outdoors could want - from fabulous fell walking and rock climbing to the serenity of the valley and Derwentwater lake.
Easedale House Accommodation is hotel quality. We have nine guest bedrooms, all of which are fully en-suite and offers good quality accommodation suitable to a variety of guests. We have twin, double and family bedrooms available. All are of a good size, comfortably and tastefully furnished, and all have a colour television, hospitality tray, wine glasses and corkscrew, toiletries and a hairdryer. Three of our double bedrooms are of a superior standard, being slightly larger rooms with king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, bathrobes and CD players. Our family bedroom has a double bed and two single beds. Our superior double bedrooms are spacious enough to accommodate a travel cot, which we can provide on request. For the comfort of all of our guests, we operate a totally non smoking guest house and we do not accept any pets. We welcome walkers and cyclists with our bike storage, drying room and packed lunches. We have a selection of maps, walks and guide books for you to peruse and the weather forecast is available daily on the notice board. In acknowledgement of the enjoyment that our guests and ourselves receive from the magnificent scenery and equally the toll that the ravages of nature, the Lakeland weather and the pounding of countless visitors boots take on this unique environment Easedale House is a Member of The Tourism and Conservation Partnership. The Partnership is a non-profit making organisation that brings together tourism businesses, conservation groups and visitors to raise funds and help preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Lake District. Funds raised by our guests will contribute to enhancing the popular Friars Crag footpath alongside Derwentwater.
The cosy guest lounge has a good selection of books, games and toys to amuse all the family. Tea and coffee making facilities and a selection of glasses for your own cold drinks are also available. Easedale House supports Fairtrade - a trading system that allows producers in poor countries to sell their products at a price that helps them to work their way out of poverty - by supplying Fairtrade tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar in all bedrooms and at breakfast.
