Wood Farm Cottages - Brandlinghill

Luxury Self Catering Cottages in Brandlingill, Western Lake District. Sleeping up to six in tasteful barn conversion. Ideal as a walking or touring base.

Wood Farm Cottages offers you the opportunity to relax and bask in the beauty of the Lake District with their choice of self catering cottages situated in the Western Lake area of Cumbria. Dating back to the 17th century, this former working farm offers two spacious cottages converted from a disused barn and each now offers delightful accommodation for up to six people. Close to one of Britain's most picturesque valleys, Lorton Vale and nestling in the rural hamlet of Brandlingill this is an ideal base for a quiet weekend away or a base for touring the beautiful Lake District.

Wood Farm Cottages are just two miles from the lovely village of Lorton, with a local pub and a shop. The market town of Cockermouth is just four miles away and was the birthplace of Wordsworth. Maybe take a scenic drive over Whinlatter, the only mountain forest in England to the fabulous town of Keswick with its variety of shops including outdoor clothing and equipment, speciality shops, bakers, butchers alongside tea shops, traditional Lakeland pubs, restaurants, fish and chips and tourist information. You'll also find the Cars of the Stars Museum, galleries and a cinema to keep you entertained. The lakes of Bassenthwaite, Buttermere and Crummock Water are within a 10 mile radius and the Solway Firth further afield offers fantastic birdwatching opportunities.

Specialities

Wood Farm cottages offers numerous opportunities for all types of walks. From the Farm, the bridle pathway opposite leads up to a fell road where you may choose to walk to the picturesque Lakeland village of Lorton, alternatively, for the more ardent walker, take the fell road and beyond to Loweswater. Each walk gives some very panoramic Lake District views. However, if you simply wish to unwind, a gentle walk down our peaceful country lane is very pleasant. Ten miles away at Buttermere the mountains of Red Pike, Hay Stacks and High Stiles offer a number of impressive climbs. Finally, the Cumbrian shoreline gives ample opportunity to sample some delightful coastal walks (St Bees, 12 miles away, is the start of the Coast to Coast walk).
