Brook House Cottages lie in the delightful village of Bassenthwaite, nestling at the foot of Skiddaw, the fourth highest mountain in the Lake District. Our cottages lie in this idylic "sleepy hollow" beside a beautiful stream with ducks and a wooden footbridge. The 17th century properties are a variety of sizes and have a homely atmosphere, each being clean and well cared for and personally supervised. Choose from a cosy "Nest" for two, a cottage for 4, 8 or an olde worlde farmhouse with 4 bedrooms, sleeping up to 10.

Brook House Cottage Holidays is a well-established family run business located by a farm in the heart of Bassenthwaite village, a small village in the quieter Northern Lake District. The village can be found two miles from the shores if Bassenthwaite Lake and a short distance from many of the area's most popular attractions. The market town of Keswick, on the shores of Derwentwater, and Cockermouth, the town of William Wordsworth's family home, can each be reached in around 15 minutes by car.

Rooms Description

Brook House 1 (sleeps up to 10) is a delightful 17th century beamed cottage overlooking the stream with its own private walled cottage garden. 4 bedrooms. Attractive lounge with interesting cobble stone fireplace, oak beams, colour TV and DVD & Video players. Spacious kitchen/diner with dishwasher, microwave, electric double oven, large fridge freezer. Upstairs bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs toilet and shower. Brook House 2 (Sleeps up to 8 or 11 with Brook House Studio) is a charming and inviting spacious 17th Century cottage with small private enclosed patio. 3 bedrooms including a family room with double bed and two singles; one double room and a bunk room with full size bunks. Olde worlde lounge with red brick fireplace, colour T.V. with video & DVD player. The well equipped kitchen is complete with electric double oven cooker, dishwasher, microwave & fridge freezer.Brook House Studio (sleeps up to 3) is a spacious open-plan apartment by the farm yard. Tastefully decorated with pine wood panelling, laminate flooring and patchwork quilts. The entrance from the farmyard opens into a good sized porch useful for coats and boots. This leads to a bedroom area with double and single beds, comfortable lounge area with colour TV. A small kitchen. The Nest (sleeps up to 2) is situated near the farmyard and is a small interesting stable conversion on ground level full of character with many oak beams. Delightful view to stream from beamed lounge with colour TV & video. One bedroom with oak beams. Kitchen with electric cooker and microwave. Shower room, toilet, washbasin.

Specialities

Children are welcome and cots, high chairs and stair gates are available free of charge but please request these prior to arrival. There is a drying room for walkers outdoor clothing. Laundry facilities with washing machines and tumble dryers are available at a small additional charge.
