Cosy, charming and very comfortable rooms, some with direct access to the gardenThe idyllic Royal Oak Inn in historic market town Appleby in Westmoreland, has stood in Bongate, the oldest part of Appleby-in-Westmorland for over 300 years always providing sustenance for the weary traveller. The old county town of Westmorland, it is situated in the beautiful Eden Valley and is an ideal centre from which to explore the beauties of the Pennines, Lake District, Scottish Borders and, of course, the Yorkshire Dales and Howgill Fells, A.W.Wainwright's favourite. The whole area is a paradise for walkers and with so much variety it is difficult to choose where to go, but be assured that when you return from a hard day out, there is a warm and relaxing welcome awaiting you. The inn is only a mile from the Trans-Pennine A66, 12 miles from J38 M6 and just ? mile from Appleby Station on the famous and spectacular Settle/ Carlisle Railway.
