Shepherds Croft Bed and Breakfast is located within the village of Culgaith in the beautiful Eden Valley and perfectly situated for exploring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Northern Pennines, Hadrians Wall and Southern Scotland. Culgaith is 1 mile from the A66 between Penrith and Appleby, and offers plenty of excellent walking and cycling nearby. As we are 1 mile from the A66 and only 10 minutes from the M6 we are an ideal place to stopover if you are travelling to or from Scotland. Shepherds Croft is a converted Bank Byre (a type of barn) and is unusual in that there are two ground floor levels, because the bank into which the barn was built slopes, so that the rear garden and patio are higher than the cobbled frontage. Full of character and charm, guests can expect hearty breakfasts served at the time of your choice between 07.30 and 09.30am.
All the letting rooms are on the same floor and there is a separate residents lounge/ dining room. The house is cosy and warm, the walls are 2 foot thick! - and all rooms have individually adjustable central heating radiators. We are only 50 yards from the village Pub/Restaurant, The Black Swan. The residents Lounge/Dining Room is large enough for you to relax in comfort. Guests have access to a comprehensive collection of information on local tourist attractions and we are always willing to help you plan your stay with some local advice (Mike is a member of the Local Mountain Rescue Team).
