The Limes Guest House is a family run guest house in a tranquil area overlooking the countryside of the Eamont Valley, midway between the Lake District and the Pennines. The property began life in the late nineteenth century as a fine Victorian farmhouse and the property now perfectly combines traditional period features with all the modern comforts you would expect of a quality guest house. Despite our quiet rural setting, we are conveniently placed less than one mile from Junction 40 of the M6 motorway and the A66 passes within a quarter of a mile. We are the nearest accommodation to the Rheged visitor centre - a five minute walk. We are two miles from the Newton Rigg campus of the University of Cumbria.

The Limes is well situated for exploring the beautiful English Lake District and Ullswater, one of the loveliest lakes is just four miles away. The rest of the Lake District is within easy reach for a day trip, as is the Yorkshire Dales, Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish Borders. Information about local sight and attractions is available at the guest house and we are only too happy to lend guide books and maps or give advice about tourist routes. A full English breakfast is a treat for many holiday-makers and, while we do serve a lighter breakfast for those who prefer it, the big breakfast is very popular including, as it does, locally-made traditional sausages and home-made jam and marmalade.
