Mellfell House Farm is located on an idyllic spot, on the slopes of Little Mellfell, overlooking beautiful Ullswater, in the north-east of the Lake District National Park. We're just 6 miles from Penrith and it's host of specialist shops and pubs. The farmhouse itself is a charming 17th century farmhouse, with the old barns now converted into six holiday cottages. The proprietors are keen walkers and can provide advice, info and maps of walking in the area.
Mellfell is no longer a working farm, but we've plenty of animals on our seventeen acres including cats, dogs, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks and hens, most of which wander about freely. The adjacent landscape consists of soaring uplands, with wild crags, tumbling streams and dramatic waterfalls giving way to tranquil lakes, gentle farmland and stone farmhouses, all criss-crossed by a network of drystone walls. A perfect location for walkers and those wishing to undertake a variety of outdoor activities. The holiday cottages are located close to the spectacular Aira Force waterfalls. Facilities for fishing, climbing, cycling, mountain biking, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, pony-trekking and golf are all available nearby. There are also several good pubs serving food within a five mile radius, the nearest being the Brackenrigg which is just 1.5 miles away.
