2 well presented self catering cottages in the Borrowdale Valley, set at the foot of Catbells. Wonderful valley and lake views, 15 mins from Keswick. Sleep 4.

The Coach House and Garden Cottage are beautifully set in wooded countryside at Fellside in the Borrowdale Valley, near Keswick. Fellside is located on the western side of Derwentwater, at the foot of Catbells, one of the most popular of Wainwright's short walks. There is much to see and do in the local area with the village of Grange just one mile away and the market town of Keswick, with its Theatre by the Lake, around 15 minutes drive away. Lovers of the great outdoors will find no shortage of things to do locally including walking, cycling and water sports.

The Coach House can accommodate up to four adults plus a travel cot or put you up bed in the main bedroom. There are stunning views of the Borrowdale Valley and the picture windows in the lounge and main bedroom enjoy views of the southern end of the lake. Garden Cottage sleeps up to four people and is the middle cottage in a row of three and is cosy and comfortable with an open fire and sunny patio. Guests of either cottage are welcome to make the most of the spectacular views from the tranquility of Fellside gardens.

Rooms Description

Each cottage is beautifully furnished throughout with lounge and dining areas benefitting from wonderful Borrowdale Valley views. There is a TV and DVD for your entertainment and an open fire in Garden Cottage for those cosy evenings in. The kitchen is well equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. A washing machine is provided for your convenience. Sleeping accommodation is in one double and one twin bedroom. Both cottages have beautifully refurbished bathrooms.

Off road parking is available. Dogs are welcome for a small weekly charge.

Availability

  • Short breaks are available in the winter months at a rate of £150 for first two nights then £50 per night thereafter.
  • During the main season short breaks are available on a last minute basis at a rate of £200 for the first two nights then 1/7 of the full week rate.
  • 2010 is almost booked up already. Availability still 27th March in both cottages, £100 off usual price. 24th April in Garden Cottage available, £450.

  • £25 for only 2 people staying in off peak weeks, applies to full weeks only, £25 for two week stays. Early booking discount may be offered.

Directions

From A66, at Keswick, take the second exit. Turn left at the T junction, then right at the 1st mini roundabout. Follow the signs for the B5289 towards Borrowdale out of the town centre, going straight on at the next roundabout then right at the following roundabout. After about 4 miles, turn right over the bridge into Grange. Follow the road through the village and continue along for about another ¾ mile. You will pass Manesty cottages on the left and then a caravan site on the right. Shortly afterwards on the left, you will see a wooden sign on a tree with the name 'Scalethorns' on. Turn sharp left into the driveway and Fellside is at the very top.
