Haisthorpe is a former gentleman's residence built in 1897 now tastefully converted into a guest house, which has the feel of a small hotel offering the highest standards of bed and breakfast accommodation. The B&B sits in a secluded area of Windermere, but is only a few minutes walk from the village centre and the train/coach station. We're an ideal base for touring and walking holidays, and guests have easy access to the Langdale Valley and Fells. We have our own private off road car park and unrestricted parking on the street at the front.
Our breakfasts are special. Enjoy first a buffet style breakfast which consists of cereals, grapefruit, Yogurt, fresh fruit, fruit juice, tea or a cafetiere of fresh coffee. Follow this with the full English breakfast. We use fresh local produce, and all our bacon and sausage is supplied by Huddleston's Butchers of Windermere. We also use fresh free range eggs and locally baked bread from Oakthorpe Bakery. If you prefer you can have a vegetarian breakfast or a lighter continental breakfast. The perfect start to your day in the Lake District.
Guests can choose from a selection of room designs, including double, twin and family rooms. For that special stay, why not choose our four-poster room or one with a double corner Jacuzzi bath. All the bedrooms are en-suite, tastefully and beautifully decorated with comfortabe furnishings. All are also fully equipped with colour television, radio alarms, hair dryer, and hospitality tray with Fairtrade tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits from The Fairground Staveley. Wireless internet access is available. A non-smoking policy exists in all areas.
We also offer free use of The Parklands Country Club a nearby private leisure club for guests staying with us, offering pool, sauna, steam room, gymnasium, squash, badminton,table tennis, snooker and bar facilities. We will be happy to advise you of restaurants within easy walking distance to give you an opportunity to sample the excellent cuisine available in Windermere. To help you plan your days out we have information leaflets and a folder with attractions and places of interest in Cumbria. We can also provide listings of special events taking place in Cumbria. We can advise a selection of walks for the local area of the 'Lake District' with maps highlighting the route.

From the South, leave the M6 motorway at junction 36 and follow the A591 to Windermere. When you reach the village turn left opposite the Windermere Hotel where it says Town Centre, follow the one way system and after you leave it take the second left into Ellerthwaite Road, Ellerthwaite Lodge Hotel on corner, then take the first left into Holly Road and we are about 100 yards along on the right. From the North, leave the M6 motorway at junction 40 and follow the A66 in the direction of Keswick. After about 1 mile turn left at a roundabout towards Windermere, follow the signs to Windermere passing alongside Ullswater and through Glennridding then over the Kirkstone Pass and down into Windermere. You will reach Windermere at a mini-roundabout where you turn left, after about 1/2 mile take a right turn into the town centre. Rockside Guest House is on the far right hand side corner. You will join the one way system and then follow the directions above. By Train, Windermere is on a branch line from the main west coast line station at Oxenholme where there are regular trains to the north and south. There are also direct trains to and from Manchester Airport. By Coach, there is a coach service to Windermere from the north and south.
