Ivy Bank is a pretty Victorian era house built in the 1890's using local slate and to this day retains many of its original features. Situated on a quiet road away from main thoroughfares we are within a few minutes walk of the railway station, coach stop and village centre. As well as providing comfortably furnished and attractively decorated guest accommodation Ivy Bank is also a family home. We aim to provide an informal and relaxing atmosphere as a base for any activities you wish to pursue. We can advise you on the best places to eat out as well as walking, cycling and sightseeing opportunities in Cumbria, Hadrian's Wall country or the Western Dales.

Within thirty minutes walk from Ivy Bank there are several excellent viewpoints, including the view from Orrest Head which inspired Wainwright to go on and write his famous pictorial guides to the Lake District. Other walks to be found within easy reach will take you to School Knott, Brant Fell, Biskey Howe, tumbling waterfalls at Millerground and Sherrifs Walk and the Lake Shore. Our fabulous breakfasts are designed to set you up for a day's exploration and choices include a full English breakfast made using locally sourced produce as well as kippers and vegetarian alternatives.

Rooms Description

Ivy Bank B&B has five individually decorated en-suite guest rooms, four of these are doubles and one is a family room. We have two superior rooms complete with antique furniture, comfy sofa and DVD player. Guests are welcome to bring their own DVDs or select one from our library. Each guest room is equipped with colour TV, hair dryer, alarm clock radio, corkscrew and glasses, tea and coffee tray and a range of toiletries. Free Wireless Internet is available throughout.

Specialities

Sue is a qualified Sports and Remedial Masseuse and Aromatherapist and can offer these treatments at a mutually agreed time. Each client is given a full consultation and specially selected oils are chosen to suit. Advance booking is advisable to avoid disappointment. Prices are as follows; 90 minute Aromatherapy Treatment (including consultation) - £35. Sports and Remedial Massage - £30 per hour. Off road parking and safe storage for motorbikes and bicycles is available for all our guests.
