The delightful Briardene guesthouse dates from the 1880s, and retains much of it's original character. The guesthouse is ideally located in the central Lake District, in Windermere, close to Lake Windermere and Windermere specialist shopping. The guesthouse is family run, offering guests a high standard of comfort with a warm friendly atmosphere. For the comfort and safety of our guests, Briardene Guest House is exclusively Non-smoking. The house is built from local slate, and inside it retains many original features including an elegant pitch pine staircase, stained glass windows and coving. Briardene has central heating throughout. Private off-road parking is also provided for all our guests. Our breakfasts will set you up for your day in the Lake District, with a buffet style breakfast of cereals, fresh fruit, grapefruit segments and fruit juices available. We also have a menu which provides a wider choice, including Full English, Vegetarian or Continental. There are a number of picturesque walks that can be followed from Briardene, including the spectaculer view from Orrest Head, remembered as A.W.Wainwright's first inspirational walk leading him to a life of fell-walking.

We have recently completed major refurbishment work where we have upgraded our letting accommodation. We have our Deluxe Attic room with Victorian brass king-size bed, sitting area & en-suite bathroom and shower. This room also includes a flat screen TV with DVD player, fridge, iron & ironing board, bathrobes & bathsheets. The following 2 rooms are our new additions to Briardene. Our 4-poster room offers that something a little special with it being our largest room. It is beautifully furnished with a 4-poster king-size bed, reclaimed hand-carved pine furniture, a sitting area, flat screen TV with DVD player, fridge, iron & iron board and also all the normal extras together with a larger en-suite offering an enclosed jet-spray power/steam shower. Then we have the 'Victorian Room' which has a lovely Victorian style brass king-size bed Although this has a smaller sitting area it still has all the extras we have offering in the above room with reclaimed hand-carved furniture together with a double size en-suite with an enclosed jet-spray power/steam shower.

At Briardene, all our bedrooms are decorated individually and offer comfort and relaxing stay. Our 4-poster room offers that something a little special and extra. The 4-Poster king-size bed is fitted with a Tempa memory mattress offering a very comfortable nights sleep. The room is furnished with reclaimed hand-carved pine furniture, hand-sewn curtains and the little extras of fridge, iron & ironing board, bathrobes, 22" flat tv with dvd and a comfortable sitting area furnished with Lloyd Loom chairs, making it ideal for a romantic break.

With our new refurbishment we are able to offer our guests something a little special and different. Our 2 new bedrooms offer a new experience when showering, Thermostatic Steam Shower - Hydro Massage Spa Showers. So after a hard day walking the Lakeland fells what better way to relax and enjoy a monsoon shower or sit down and ease your muscles with massage jet-sprays and foot massage and then finish off with the steam shower.
