They offer all those extras guests expect in a luxury guest house that was once a gentleman's residence- use their private car park and then as you walk into the hall, the blend between modern and traditional is apparent. On the landing, the original stained glass windows with fresh flowers on the window sill and the tiled floors in the hall. The overall feeling is one of tranquillity which many guests comment on. Music is important to Philip and Mary, the caricatures of Philip as a Music Director, music of varying styles often playing in the lounge or the grand piano available for guests to play. Sit in the lounge to read your newspaper,try one of the puzzles, play the grand piano or choose a CD from one of Philip's wide selection whilst drinking a fine wine or continental beer.
All the bed rooms are enquite and have been refurbished over the past 3 years and designed with individual taste. Modern French and Art Nouvaux prints and pictures or drapes from Morrocco; fresh coffee, hot chocolate, cafetieres, milk, a variety of teas; DVD/CD players and Ipod docking stations with access to Wireless Internet. The luxury bed rooms have King Sized comfortable beds to snuggle into after enjoying dinner at 1 Park Road. If it's raining, sofas to sit and watch a DVD. The family room has two single beds and a travelling cot, if required, as well as books, crayons and pencils from Kendal Pencil factory for the children. Food is locally sourced for breakfast and dinner, which is served at weekend and sometimes during the week. As well as the freshly cooked English breakfast using award winning sausages and free range eggs cooked in every way possible, there are a range of other choices: fresh fruit, yogurts, smoothies and specialties such as Eggs Benedict, omelette Arnold Bennett and kippers. Evening meals are wholesome with menus changing each week but there are choices for vegetarians and people with special diets, such as gluten free dishes.

Stay more than 3 nights and get 5% discount on the total room tariff At week end, stay more than 3 nights and you will get a free bottle of wine with your eveing meal and a free glass of wine if you go to the White House Restaurant in Bowness for your meal on the Sunday evening. Stay more than 7 nights and 10% is discounted. Philip and Mary will arrange flowers, champagne or wine for that special occasion and, if you come by train, collected and taken to the train station. They provide packed lunches and picnic hampers Locally there are cycle or car hire available and full and half day guided tours can be arranged.
