Built in 1897 Newstead is a truely stunning and delightful example of a detached Victorian Villa retaining many original features including its splendid hall and staircase, marble fireplaces, mahogany woodwork, and even its serving bells. The guest house has been stylishly and richly refurbished to a very high standard with the extensive use of colourful designs from the Arts and Crafts, Art Noveau and Gothic movements recalling the splendour of Victorian times.

Newstead is conveniently situated in a quiet residential area between the Villages of Windermere and Bowness within a short walking distance (5 - 15mins) of Lake Windermere and both tourist centres offering an extensive range of pubs, restaurants, entertainment and shops. The guesthouse stands within its own grounds with off-street parking for 10 vehicles. The Brookside - a cosy and friendly traditional pub nestles behind woods and a stream to the rear of the property. Scenic strolls, woodlands and Lake Windermere are all within easy reach and there are bus and train services within 5 to 10 mins walk. Breakfast is special too with an extensive menu including a selection of fruits, fruit juices, cereals, toast, jams & honey to start followed by a traditional hearty full English grilled main course or a cooked vegetarian alternative. Rooms Description

All 9 bedrooms have have been stylishly refurbished to a very high standard and have modern, hygienic ensuite shower systems with ceramic floors. The bedrooms comprise lovely Superior Double beds and Stunning King and Super King mahogany 4 posters on the ground, 1st and 2nd floors. Room 8 is a twin/family room, while Room 7 offers a shower/bath combi. The top floor rooms have climate control. All our rooms are colourful, airy and bright and are individually decorated with the extensive use of Arts & Crafts, Art Noveau and Gothic designs. At Newstead we pride ourselves on the highest levels of cleanliness and good housekeeping and the rooms are serviced daily. Breakfast is served at individual tables in the charming Victorian styled dining room which is interestingly decorated with antique brass chandeliers, Wiliam Morris prints and photographs recalling the history of Old Windermere and Bowness. For the comfort of its guests Newstead has retained its grand Victorian lounge where guests may wish to relax, meet or chat in front of the magnificent Italian marble fireplace.

Located only a few minutes drive away - guests staying at Newstead enjoy free use of a private leisure club with swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, solarium, trimnasium, squash, badminton, snooker etc and a small bar and cafeteria. Car rental and bicycle hire services are available locally. Full day or ½ day guided mini-bus tours can be arranged and will pick - up and drop-off at the guest house.
