Etland House Cottage in Preston Patrick provides accommodation for up to 13 guests and has a total of 6 bedrooms over 3 floors, and so we are the ideal place to stay for large family reunions or to enjoy a break with friends. Our cottage has been tastefully converted from a traditional stone-built cottage, with original features remaining throughout, while integrating the property with eco-friendly details such as solar roof panels and geothermal heating. You’ll be able to admire our country views from the first floor lounge, which has a Juliet balcony and access out onto the raised patio, furnished with outside dining furniture and a BBQ. In the winter you can snuggle up in front of the wood burning stove in the lounge though, and watch the TV or choose something to watch from our small DVD collection.

Preston Patrick is set just 9 miles from the Lake District National Park, where you can go walking, cycling, rock climbing, horse riding and much more. Despite our remote location, we’re surrounded by excellent attractions, with Helsington being just 7 miles from us. Here you’ll find Levens Hall & Garden as well as Sizergh Castle and Garden and, just a few miles further up the road is Kendal, one of the most visited towns in the South Lakes. Birthplace of the delicious Kendal mint cake recipe, this town is home to attractions like Abbot Hall Art Gallery & Museum, The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition Centre and Kendal Museum.

We have a large first floor country kitchen that you can cook family meals in. We’ve fitted the room with panelled cabinets with granite-style worktops and a small breakfast bar, and there is a dining table to seat all guests in the adjoining room. In the kitchen you’ll find an eye level double oven, a ceramic hob, a microwave, a washer/dryer, a dishwasher, a freezer and 2 fridges. Our bedrooms start on the ground floor, with an en suite super king size bedroom, which can be converted into a twin room and has a further pull out bed for one other person. There’s also a king size bedroom and a twin room on this floor. The second floor holds another en suite super king size room and two twin bedrooms, one of which can be a super king size room. In addition to the en suite bathrooms there are two family bathrooms at our cottage.

Special to this property

We are family friendly and can provide one cot and high chair for guests staying with a baby or toddler. The back patio area at the cottage is shared with guests in another of our properties, located next door, which can be booked in conjunction with Etland House Cottage to accommodate 20 people. There is off road parking for multiple vehicles, as well as bike storage, and we can allow two pets to stay.
