Hartsop Hall Cottages - Patterdale

2 traditional cottages on working hill farm offering a unique and stunning Lakeland holiday

The Hartsop Hall Estate is situated in the midst of some of the most majestic fells in the Lake District, at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, close to Brothers Water. It is a 3000 acre property with a flock of mostly Swaledale sheep and Aberdeen Angus cattle. Here are to be found two traditional cottages spectacularly situated on this working hill farm, offering guests a unique Lakeland experience. The two cottages, Caudale Beck and Dovedale, are both idyllically situated on the farm, offering a truly “off the beaten track” holiday.

CAUDALE BECK(sleeps 6) Built in 1699, this Grade II listed traditional Lakeland farmhouse nestles in seclusion at the end of its own driveway, about 300 yards from the Kirkstone Pass road. Caudale Beck has vast stone walls, lots of beams and interesting features, including a spice cupboard by the fireplace in the lounge. It is a very spacious property, where the provision of modern creature comforts has not been allowed to interfere with its traditional features and character appeal. There is a spacious kitchen, large utility room, beautiful lounge with small dining room off. Upstairs are four generously proportioned bedrooms - two doubles and two singles – and a huge family bathroom. The furnishings throughout are traditional antique oak and pine, in keeping with the character of this farmhouse. Heating is by the Rayburn, storage radiators and the open fire, for which fuel is provided DOVEDALE COTTAGE(sleeps 6) Dovedale Cottage is a wing of the 16th C. Grade I listed Hartsop Hall, tucked under the fellside of Hartsop Above How, and with magnificent views across the meadows to Caudale Moor, rising above. The property enjoys seclusion from passing road traffic, being reached at the end of a quarter-mile farm drive. The property has recently been refurbished with the provision of full central heating. The large kitchen-dining room benefits from new equipment including an electric range cooker. The comfortable lounge has an open fire. There is also a downstairs single bedroom, with its own newly-equipped walk-in shower room, with WC and basin, fully equipped for disabled visitors. Upstairs are three large double rooms and a family bathroom. BOTH PROPERTIES are NO SMOKING. ALL THE FUEL – oil heating, electricity, coal for the open fires – is provided and is INCLUDED in the cost of your holiday rental.
