Carlisle Castle and Carlisle Cathedral
Carlisle Castle is strikingly intact, and it is pretty old!! Willaim Rufus, bless his cotton, founded it in 1092. It's had a few famous guests in it's time, including Mary Queen of Scots who was imprisoned here. Today you'll find the King's Own Border
The Cathedral, founded in 1122 has a spectacular stained glass window which dates later from the 14th-20th centuries. Oh yes, and Sir Walter Scott got married here to his French bride.
